Good for you!  That strength training will make a HUGE difference.  If you can focus some of your time really working on your core a couple times a week (3X is best!) - you will see big differences in not only your endurance but also your pace.

Those workouts help your running posture, strengthen and lengthen your stride and really help you stay strong when you are on your longer runs/races.

Congratulations!  Keep at it!
